My first draft of a possible Avengers: Doomsday plot outline which will tie up most of the major loose threads of the Multiverse Saga

First off, we start with the Fantastic Four as a necessary set up for Doomsday. In the movie, we meet RDJ's Victor Von Doom in a small supporting role and we see/learn his origin through Reed's POV during flashbacks of the 2 together in college. We also learn that before their conflict, they were working on a inter-universal portal, but they never managed to finish it before they fell out.

Later on in the movie, when the FF meet Shalla-Bal, Galactus' herald, she explains that the Multiverse is in disarray. Due to the actions of several variants of a time traveller from 31st Century Earth abusing their technology, there have been many tears in space-time, causing universes to collide into each other with the point of contact being Earth. As a result, Galactus has been sent by a council of Multiverse protectors in order to devour the Earths of universes which are close to being destroyed due to an Incursion. With no Earth, there's a chance the Incursion will be stopped before it even happens.

By the end of the movie, despite the FF's countless attempts to stop Galactus, the planet-eater emerges successful, but Reed manages to finish his and Victor's inter-universal portal to save his family as well as some other citizens of their universe's NYC including some of their supporting cast and villains, and they all transport to modern day 616.

The post-credits scene of the movie shows Dr. Doom in full costume for the first time and we learn that he also completed the inter-universal portal and managed to leave his Earth just in time before it was destroyed.

Moving on to Doomsday, Reed finds the heroes of 616 and warns them of what's coming. Ant-Man remembers that the Kang variant that he killed wanted to stop his variants from causing Incursions and feels like this is all his fault. Thus, he decides to finally bring the rest of the heroes up to speed, which prompts Captain America to finally reassemble the Avengers in order to stop the upcoming Incursions as Time is Running Out.

Carol, who has been studying the Quantum Bands for the last couple of years in order to find a way to bring Monica back, theorises that what The Marvels managed to stop just in time was the beginning of an Incursion and believes they can do it again. But they need Monica for that and that means getting her back from wherever in the Multiverse she's stuck in.

Carol decides to ask help from Shang-Chi, since she has a theory that his rings have some connection to the Quantum Bands and Wong and Bruce tag along as they have been studying the rings for the last few years. When Scott sees the rings, he comes up with the theory that they were created by Kang since his time/universe-hopping ship was surrounded by similar rings with similar writings on them. They realise that this means the rings' beacon was pinging to Kang and they decided to leave Earth-616 as soon as possible in order to not "invite" Kang to this universe and put it in greater risk.

Thus, all 5 of them (Scott, Bruce, Wong, Carol and Shang-Chi) manage to find a way to use the rings in coordination with the Quantum Tunnel and Wong's magic and create an inter-universal ship to try and track Monica.

Meanwhile, we meet Dr. Strange and Clea who have been trying to stop Incursions all across the Multiverse for the last few years and have developed a very close relationship, but eventually Strange starts feeling that it's pointless to keep trying as they fail more times than they succeed.

That's when they come in contact with the Dark Priests, a Multiversal council who has been trying to stop Incursions before they even happen by destroying the Earths of universes which are about to collide, since Earth is the point of contact. And of course, it was them whom Galactus "answers to".

At first, Strange and the Priests are antagonistic with each other as the Priests believe that Dr. Stranges all across the Multiverse have been a big reason for the Incursions, on top of Kangs. They bring up 838 Strange and Sinister Strange from MoM as well as Strange Supreme from What if...? among other examples where Stranges have been abusing the Multiverse, causing or accelerating Incursions.

Strange, feeling as though this is a mistake he is responsible to fix in order to atone for his variants' wrong-doings, eventuality joins the Priests as their leader and agrees to start destroying Earths. And the next one on the list is Earth-616, which is in a collision course with Earth-10005 in the last Incursion before the destruction of the Multiverse. Strange decides against sending Galactus to 616, wanting to be the one to give a more swift and honourable end to his own Earth.

Thus, Clea, disappointed in him, leaves for 616 in order to warn the Avengers.

This leads the Earth-bound Avengers (Cap, War Machine, Spidey, Daredevil, She-Hulk, Black Panther, Clint and Star-Lord) with the help of the Thunderbolts and the Fantastic Four, to enact an planetary evacuation plan with SABER space-ships, orchestrated by Fury.

Throughout all of this, Dr. Doom has been investigating the cause of the Incursions and has finally found the Citadel of the Council of Kangs. He eliminates all of them and takes their advanced tech for himself, but then realises that they had a back-up plan in case they died.

This plan is the legendary Scarlet Witch herself who is destined to either destroy the Multiverse or save it according to the Darkhold. Well, the council had carefully set all the necessary events in motion for 616 Wanda to become the Scarlet Witch and to publicly "die" in order for them to scoop her up and use her as a contingency: in case they would die, she would accelarate the death of the Multiverse.

But what quickly realises is that she is also the only one who can save it.

Thus, she plans to manipulate her powers in order to create a planet composed of the remnants of all universes that are left.

Back on Earth, teenage Billy has found teenage Tommy during VisionQuest and he insists that Wanda is alive and she is the only one who can save the Multiverse. Kamala, Kate, Cassie and Riri have already formed an Avengers team of their own and are trying to help with the evacuation of Earth while fighting small-time crime in the wake of the announcement that the end of the world is coming.

Somehow, Tommy and Billy meet the girls and they all go find America Chavez who can take them to Wanda, so they can save her and rebuild the Multiverse.

This kickstarts a Children's Crusade storyline where the kids, with the help of Vision, locate Wanda and try to get her back from Doom's grasp.

Meanwhile, Carol and her group in 10005 have met with Deadpool and Wolverine after reuniting with Monica and informing the X-Men of the upcoming peril. DP and Wolvie now have contacts within the TVA, so the whole group joins the TVA and they all try to find the connection between the rings and the bands and how they can use them in order to reverse the Incursions which have already started.

Now, all the different groups of to heroes are working trying to find a way to save the Multiverse in their own way:

  • Carol, Shang-Chi, Scott, Bruce, Wong, Monica, Deadpool, Wolverine and the TVA are trying reverse already happening Incursions
  • The Earth-bound heroes are trying to evacuate Earth in order to save as many as they can from what they believe to be an inevitable disaster
  • Strange and the Black Priests are trying to cut the problem at its root before it gets any worse, no matter the casualties
  • The Young Avengers hope they can fix everything that's already happened and recreate the Multiverse entirely
  • And Doom is just trying to salvage whatever he can from what's left of the Multiverse

The film will explore these different philosophies held by all these different characters as... Time is Running Out.

Of course all the heroes end up losing at the end as Doom's way proves to be the most effective and thus Battleworld is created and the Secret Wars start!

What do you guys think?

I know it's rough around the edges and it still needs a lot of work, but I am not a professional writer lol. But do you think it's got potential as a very rough and general story outline?

I feel like it's the best way to incorporate all the major characters (bar for Eternals) of this Saga, make an interesting and compelling story that doesn't have nostalgia as the primary draw, tie up all the major loose threads, close the Kang storyline in a satisfying way and stay true to the comics by adapting Time Runs Out and Children's Crusade as accurately as possible within the world of the MCU.
