Income tax/return

OKAYY I know every situation is different blah blah...

As a single, one w2, nothing extra, mass resident working in mass, how much are people usually getting refunded in Massachusetts state tax?

I moved to Massachusetts midway through last year from NH and went on a Rollercoaster doing my taxes tonight. Every time i entered in something else on the mass state form my refund went from $200 originally to owing $500 back to refund of $12. It changed dramatically when I did the health insurance questions, which I just have standardly through my employer....

Anyway, I'm just worried about actually owing a substantial amount next year? I make about 45k a year and it's around $40 a week in mass tax that comes out. Is this something I should maybe see if payroll can like, withhold more? Is it typical to kind of break even on it? I don't care about money back, but I don't want to suddenly owe $1000 either.. and Google isn't helping.
