Moving to NYC area with middle schoolers - school help

We are moving to NJ with two middle schoolers (7th/8th next year) and one person has a commute to manhattan financial district. Where do we start looking - Hoboken, jersey city, orange… looking to keep commute under an hour roughly. I would greatly appreciate school help. Private is fine or we can do public and then switch to private for high school.
