Philly Rent $2K+

So random question but how are people (especially college graduates in their mid-late 20s) affording $2k rent in Philly (fishtown, queens village and center city area) while also being able to afford to go out to eat in these areas, travel, buy all this clothes and do all these things???

I’ve been in Philly my entire life and am only making $55k a year and I’m 26 years old. But I make enough to pay off my student loans, a car payment, car insurance, rent, and all my bills and maybe a SHEIN order once a month and food.

Are there just a lot more people in Philly who has family support helping to pay their rent or other bills? Or is everyone is Philly just super rich making really good money??

Edit: I think a lot of people misunderstood this post like I was crying about not being able to live in center city or other expensive areas.

I do not want to live in center city or other expensive areas. I NEED MY CAR and do not like walking in the cold weather so I would never live anywhere near center city.

My entire post was simply an observation that I made about younger people in my generation living this “influencer life” posting in really nice apartments, shopping hauls, eating out every night, and going to these festivals for 2 days that cost $2k+

My question was are people in their late 20s making that much money to live these lifestyles?

I rent my own house, with two bedrooms, and basement and yard, I own my own car, I have a lot to be very happy about. I am in no way upset about my life or the things that I have.

Social media just makes putting what you have on display that much easier and I am simply questions the reality of what I have been seeing.
