About why some people find episode 8 season 2 boring
Some people find this last episode as boring, or not that interesting, and maybe kind of a drag.
But this episode was fine, it was interesting, and we received some answers and a lot of excitement for the next episode.
Aaaand, we don't need to let one opinion cancel the other, both can be kind of true at the same time, it was a good episode but people are correct to feel it kind of boring, but maybe boring is not what they are feeling but some sort of disappointment.
The show is doing a "semi-cheap" tactic where they end a lot of episodes with huge questions and then... not answer them. Or they do something to make it feel like they answered it, but not really. I like to point out some examples of the show doing this:
At the end of season 1, it was like "Damn, this will change everything, next season will be so strong," and yeah, it’s going good, but the mystery regarding Gemma is slow to solve. The first episode was nice, but we didn’t get a lot of action because of the revelation.
I remember when Mark started to reintegrate, it was "Holy shit, next episode will be fire," and then next episode… we received a "nothing burger." Well, not exactly a nothing burger, we learned that the process is slow, and got hints that it’s working, but come on, we were overpromised and underdelivered.
Then he "started to reintegrate for real," and it was like "Holy shit, now the next episode will be fire with a lot of things, and there is Devon, she will take no bullshit from Reghabi." And then next episode… we got a Gemma episode. And I loved Chikhai Bardo, it was very nice, we got some answers and more of the world, but damn, last episode promised us that we were going to get answers about reintegration. We got some, but not the ones we were promised.
And then, the next episode was the "Cobel episode." Come on, I liked it, but really? We are going to wait another week to know about the reintegration? We know Mark is alive, but he has "plot armor," so no surprises there. A lot of people are getting irritated by Reghabi and how she never speaks about anything, and the more episodes she is in, the more that feeling grows. And the more episodes we get without knowing what happened to Mark, the more impatient we become. The next episode can be the most amazing deep dive into Mr. Milchick or Helly, and for a lot of people, it will still feel boring because we are not getting anything about Mark.
It's important to build tension, and the longer we go without answers, the more we want to know. But there’s a limit to how long we can wait, and for some people, it has already been too long—and that’s alright.
