Should my kid skip ahead a grade?
My daughter is 7 and in second grade. She got very high scores on the state testing. They don't start "gifted programming" until 3rd grade in my district. Her teacher said if we were interested, we could explore moving her up a grade.
We have a friend who skipped a grade (30ish years ago) and she says she had a bad experience, always feeling younger and out of place to her peers. Because of this friend's experience, we're leaning away from skipping a grade. But, I realize that's just one anecdotal data point.
Did any of you folks skip ahead a grade and have a good experience with it? Anyone know any resources to recommend or data on pros and cons of skipping a grade?
