The horrendous state of this sub. Warning: very long and whiny post.

r/stunfisk has always been my go-to toilet scrolling subreddit. It's about a topic i can be smug about, while also being formatted in a way that it can be easily consumed. But over the years it has descreased in quality. It is very hard coming by and meaningful competitive pokemon discourse on the sub meant for competitive pokemon discourse. It's all mostly non-related theorymons and casual players (no shame in being one!) waiting for sunday to laugh at incineroar again. Here, I have compiled every single post outside of the sunday and thursday tags made in the last week, for you, the reader, to just see how frustratingly unproductive this subreddit is in it's current state. I didn't cherry pick the bad ones, nor am i claiming all of these posts are bad and the OPs should be ashamed of themselves. Pokemon is and alwasy will be a safe place for any sort of person. The community consists of people from various age groups, tons of neurodivergent people and queer people. What makes me stick with this community is how accepting it is. I do not mean to make these post authors targets, nor am i trying to shame them. I am mostly trying to put into perspective the r/stunfisk moderation teams vision for this sub, with the changes they make and the clearly rule violating posts they still leave up on the subreddit. I feel like this subreddit in its current state is not a good place to discuss competitive pokemon. It's basically a 2nd, smaller, r/pokemon, with no fanart, and a bigger focus on the battle mechanics. NOT competitive battling. as posts about unrelated fakemon , romhacks, derivative memes are now allowed and encouraged in this sub, the difference between this space in the community and other unrelated, less competitive, less focused spaces fades day by day. Could this current state of the sub change? I don't think so. The community itself was shifting towards this more homogenous side around last year iirc, then the sunday memes ban happened. ever since that ban i feel like this more casual side (no shame in enjoying casual pokemon!) has become more vocal and has been prioritised by the subreddit moderators to regain the thousands of members they had lost. My personal opinion is, they had to take a strict stance around the time of the meme ban, face the decaying userbase, and keep the sub heavily moderated for a bit to allow this unique side of this big fan community to stay unique. But we all know what happened. People left, mods worried, here we are now. I just wanted to complain, as redditors do. so here is all* the posts made within 7 days of me making this post. Draw the conclusions yourselves. (as i said, i haven't included sunday and thursday flair posts).
