Why don’t Taiwanese drink much?

I realized that compare to other Asian cultures (Japanese, Korean, Chinese) let alone western countries, Taiwanese has less of a drinking culture and by that I ment of course there are drinking populations everywhere, but really not as much here and cities other than Taipei don’t really have so many bars even in downtown areas. Students in university don’t really play drinking games instead they play games like children (which is actually pretty fun).

Am I just experiencing the wrong part of Taiwan all along or do Taiwanese really prefer to do stuff sober 😆?
