I just don’t know how to feel.
I am beyond stressed. My 3 year old has never been in daycare or any sort of group environment without me around. He plays at his cousins sometimes but I’m talking about like a structured setting like a preschool or toddler sport group, etc. we went to soccer last weekend it’s a small little group to get these little ones ready for independence and real soccer! It was a parent and child class, and he had fun kicking the ball around but when it came time to following directions and following along with what the coach and other little ones were listening to and doing, he did not care at all. He continued to kick the ball around and do as he pleased. I tried to redirect him to do things the others were doing, I even sat down and did the little stretches with them to see if he’d come sit next to momma. Nope. And when it came time to red light green light, same thing. Didn’t wanna do it. I was embarrassed and left early. 10-15 minutes into the class. Come to realize I probably shouldn’t of left early I should of just let him be him, eventually hopefully he would of started to follow along and do what the others were doing, maybe by the end of the class or even by the next class in a week. I was so upset with myself and not being able to have a child that can go to his soccer practice with the other kids his age and be a normal parent watching and smiling like the other moms. I wanted to start him in this to get him ready to be in a structured environment and get him ready to be around other kids and stray him away from being attached to the hip. I cried on and off all day that day just so disappointed and discouraged. I guess I’m here just to hear some thoughts on maybe how I should feel or any tips and ideas to try this again in another way. All jokes aside please. I know Reddit can get very sarcastic and humorous.
