my genius parenting idea backfired

when my daughter was 6 or 7 months old i had the brilliant idea to teach her to throw away trash instead of putting it in her mouth (she loves picking up tiny crumbs / dust / pieces of paper). when she gave it to me i would say "thank you!" and take her to the trash can to watch me throw it away. now at 14 months i have inadvertently taught her that the garbage can is a fun toy, and she tries to throw everything in there. caught her putting her winter hat in it today 😭

not sure what the lesson here is but thought y'all might find it funny lol.
