Is anyone’s tortie not super affectionate?

My long haired tortie is our baby, however, she is rarely cuddly. For context, we adopted her from the shelter where she had a history of being rough-handled by her previous owners’ kids. This made her extremely nervous and she refused to be held or really come near us for the first few months we had her. Now, over a year later, I can tell she’s settled in. She expresses annoyance with us when we pick her up too much or over-pet her, rather than fear. She loves to be in the same room as my partner and I, but usually in a chair on the opposite side of the room. She often sleeps in our bedroom with us, but on a bench by the window, rather than on our bed. She loves to play, be brushed, and enjoy occasional neck and face scritches. Is this just her comfort level? Is there more I can do, or just accept that my perfect fur baby is just a little standoffish?

Edit: she is not treat motivated, so bribing her is useless 😂
