Sam Uley related to Leah Clearwater? How were they related and engaged?

I have the illustrated guide, and I found this connection. They are both from the Uley family tree. Same generation and again I’m still figuring this out, but does this mean cousins? Emily Young is from a separate tribe so that is different. Is this not weird to anyone else and if it makes sense to you please help me out! Thanks!
