Oak & Poplar Urn

My father passed away a few weeks ago and I wanted to make this urn for him. I've made a couple of segmented pieces before, but this is definitely the most complex. It's red oak and poplar. 23 stacked levels for 184 pieces total. I specifically chose dark green poplar to stand out when stained. It didn't pop as much as I'd imagined it would, but overall I'm happy with it.

The stain is Minwax Dark Walnut. The top threaded rings are brass. I got them from Niles Bottle Stoppers online. Definitely recommend.

It was a very cathartic process that I needed right now. Hope he'd appreciate it.

Let me know your thoughts. Would love to learn what I did wrong. I can definitely call out plenty already!
