There's a scene - I don't remember exactly when - where David has a pure Dexter moment and it's honestly amazing. Part of me wonders if that was part of what got him the job!

Both characters are uptight, introverted, and struggle to fit into their environments, each hiding a secret side of themselves—Dexter as a serial killer and David as a gay man—for a long time, and they are having conversations with their dead fathers. And if you're thinking of David's imagined scenes, they do have a resemblance to Dexter.
